NUTRITION AND DIETETICS

Who is a dietitian?

A dietitian is a health professional who undertakes practical application of adequate nutrition with both healthy and unhealthy individuals.  It is essential for patients suffering from circulatory, digestive, endocrine and autoimmune diseases, musculoskeletal and metabolic disorders, as well as kidney problems. The role of dietitians, with the help of other specialists, is to assist in treatment of the patient by applying proper nutrition, as well as  to enhance their general well being by providing them with a healthy diet. The patient, alongside a dietitian’s assistance, is able to gain healthy weight which is not only of aesthetic importance. As a result, the patient may enjoy good health condition. Dietetic consultations aim at improving the patient’s quality of life and enhance a therapeutic effect.

It is essential for the patient to prepare their body for orthopaedic and ophthalmic surgeries in order to stimulate quick recovery after an optimal nutrition plan has been applied. This requires professional dietary advice, frequently supported by the body composition analysis that assesses changes in the patient's body while a nutrition plan is being followed.

Dietery consultations include:

  • Informing patients about nutrition and a healthy lifestyle
